Meet Jessica

Glacial Speed Press was founded by Jessica Snow. She is an illustrator, graphic designer, and printmaker with a passion for preserving the beauty and intentionality of traditional letterpress printing. Jessica believes that handmade work carries a kind of meaning that mass production simply cannot replicate. Its all about the value of slowing down to make something meaningful. She aims to create beautiful pieces, but also to help people appreciate the history, process, and human connection behind every handmade piece. Every project begins with conversation!

Our Mission

At Glacial Speed Press, our mission is to create intentional, handcrafted art through the slow and deliberate process of letterpress printing. We envision a space where curiosity about the craft leads to deeper understanding, where visitors feel welcomed to ask questions and explore possibilities, and where our work inspires others to value the handmade, support local artists, and discover the unique beauty that only letterpress can create.

Our Values

We believe that people shouldn’t be held back by high price points. Feel free to reach out and talk if a project doesn’t seem possible and we will work with to find a compromise if possible! We believe in making art that is meaningful. It could be anything from protest posters, working with social causes, or a piece that is meaningful to you. Reach out and lets make something great!

Process

Letterpress printing is a relief technique where raised ink surfaces are pressed into paper using a machine called a printing press. The raised surfaces are usually wood or metal type, but can also be carved rubber stamps for images. Everything including type has to be put in backwards so it comes out facing the correct way.
